Mane Street Tack was created out of the love of the western way of life for owner, Don Hodge. Don has been an Amador County resident for over 20 years and resides there for the purpose of enjoying his horses and the comradery of other horsemen and women in the area. He soon realized that there was a need for a place to buy good quality used tack. With the help of his girlfriend, Debbie McGregor, who had previous consignment store experience, they created a place where the horse enthusiast could come and purchase just what they needed for a very reasonable price. Quality and fair pricing have led the shop to double in size. If that was not enough, the expansion led to a very unique room in the back of the shop outfitted like an old Covered Wagon which also doubles as the Wine Bar – Wine A Little! Wine lovers can sit on a western saddle and enjoy wine tasting with a western flair! Black and White cowboy movies are playing on the big screen and the atmosphere is happy and relaxing!
Don has been a General Contractor all of his life. When you step into the shop, you will notice a lot of fun additions such as the Covered Wagons and the barn fronts, all built by Don. Don has always had horses and enjoys packing in the mountains, trail riding, reining and cutting. Girlfriend Debbie grew up in the horse world with Father Dave McGregor, being a highly respected Cutting Horse trainer as well as being a Non-Pro Cutting Competitor herself. She currently works with the Pacific Coast Cutting Horse Association.
Don and Debbie LOVE what they do at Mane Street Tack and that is evident when you walk into the store and are greeted by their smiling faces. They are ready to serve you and your horse’s needs!
